In class we looked at artist models. -Winston Smith -The Dead Kennedys These models stood out as interesting to me as they were efective but something I hadn't really experimented with before, I was more familiar with a minimalist style of work so I decided to explore these. I also like the contrast of all the different elements from obviously completely different sources being able to tell a story cohesively in one collage.  I decided to try this combination because I thought the conyrast was interesting in both the contents and colours of the images. Also because the family resembles mine well. I continued to exeriment with creating a room by using two different images I had taken from locations where my fmaily and I have memories. I began to try to incorporate lots of little images that were of significance to me and my family. however as I was making this I decided that it looked too cluttered-the balance was off and there was little visual flow. In t

 Moving onto a digital format proved challenging for me as I had next to no experience with the Photoshop software. This was my attempt at recreating my cut and paste collage using digital images. My idea behind doing this was because i noticed that the printed colours were not as bright and didn't have the impact I was intending. So, I attempted to digitally recreate it using RGB with the intention of having more control over the colour contrast when it is printed. However, I decided to park this image because I felt as though I had come to the limit of avenues to explore with regard to subject matter in relation to my Mihimihi. I was also experimenting because I was still really interested in how I could use these contrast on textures effectively. After making these Inspiration:

The beginning of my process began with getting back in touch with the glue stick and scissors. I explored many of the Fundamental Design Principles without having any particular end outcome in mind. Collage One: I constructed this with very limited resources-magazines dug out of old closets hoarded from my primary school years. This piece I was trying to experiment with: Contrast: I found the contrast of photographs to to the sketches of flowers and the bridal veil quite effective too. Rhythm: through the repetition of the cube shape from the wall hangings to the chocolate squares (in relation to Mihimihi-my favourite food).  Collage 2: With my second collage I tried to incorporate the use of images that were more relative to who I am and my story. I searched through images of my time living in South America. This collage developed my understand of the FDP of visual flow and balance . 1.1 DINGBATS & INTERPRETATIONS DINGBAT COMBINATIONS The "water gun" piece I found particularly interesting as it can be interpreted from the literal meanings of the dingbats quite harmoniously as a combination. The "megaphone" with a "pill" behind it could represent a few things: A) The importance of discussion about the effects of drugs on the body - both recreational and prescription. Having a megaphone signifies the amount of people that it effects that it is necessary to get the message out loud across a large audience. B) Emphasizing the reach of recreational drugs and how many people it effects. As a megaphones purpose is to reach a large scale of people. Another interesting observation of this shape is when it is rotated counter clockwise to stand vertically. To me  this resembles a gumball machine. This could also be related to the literal sense by symbolising the accessability of drugs both recereational and pharacue

This Book Cover instantly stood out to me as an interesting design concept because it mirrored the concept we explored with the "Black Box Exercise"; that simplicity can portray just as much of a message as something more complex. Rhythm: has been used in the repetition of the black and white stripe. The point of interest comes from the variation of the discrepancy in these stripes diagonal across the page. - To me this implies a change or hiccup in the day to day norm. With relation to the title "Voices in the Night" I feel as though perhaps and the Contrast between the black and white stripes represents night and day. The jolt in the line could also represent sound waves. The diagonal Visual Flow symbolizes something increase and taking more and more control as the text is tucked behind it getting seemingly pushed further and further away; this could be foreshadowing of the power of the "Voices in the Night" challenging the normality of a characte
